Dr. Deana Marta

Veterinarian

Dr. Marta began dreaming about becoming a veterinarian when she was 5 years old.  She has always felt a deep connection to animals, and from a young age she remembers feeling drawn to them by their innocence, their intuition, and their ability to communicate without words.  Dr. Marta has experienced all aspects of the veterinary world.  Her first job was as a kennel attendant and veterinary assistant when she was in high school.  She then went on to earn her Veterinary Technician License and had several jobs working as a licensed Vet Technician while finishing her prerequisites for Vet School.  She was blessed to have the opportunity to attend Ross University, a vet school on the beautiful island of St Kitts in the Caribbean.  She completed her clinical year at Cornell University, and in 2010, she graduated with Highest Honors, achieving her lifelong goal of becoming a Veterinarian.

Dr. Marta started her career in small animal practice with a deep respect and appreciation for science and the art of veterinary medicine.  Although the daily challenges of solving medical mysteries, performing surgery, and helping pets heal from disease was rewarding, the time constraints of working in a Veterinary Hospital often prevented her from forming meaningful connections with her clients and patients.  She knew that to truly have a positive impact on the lives of pets, she needed to spend more time with them to address all aspects of their physical, social, and emotional health and well-being.  Throughout her 5-year career, Dr Marta found that her true passion lies with preventative medicine and using client education and collaboration to keep pets healthy and maximize their quality of life.  When Dr Marta became pregnant in 2016, she decided to step away from her career in private practice to raise her son and re-evaluate her life’s purpose.

Dr. Marta is now the founder and sole practitioner of Agape Mobile Vet.  She is excited to use her skills, knowledge, and love for animals to provide compassionate, stress-free, in-home wellness care to the surrounding community.  Her relaxed, holistic approach allows her to care for each pet as if it is her own.  She feels blessed to have the opportunity to form lasting relationships with every pet family she works with.  Her goal is to share God’s love (Agape) by helping pets and strengthening the human-animal bond.

Dr. Marta lives in Charlotte with the love of her life, Damian, her rambunctious 5-year-old little boy named Nathan, and 2 rescued dogs; a mutt named “Shyanne” and a black lab named “Chase.”  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, drawing, listening to music, exploring new restaurants, and being outdoors.

Kristen Watson

Vet Assistant

Kristen Watson is a dedicated and knowledgeable team member of Agape Mobile Vet.  As a native of the Charlotte area, she obtained a degree in office administration, but her passion and love for animals led her into veterinary medicine. Early on in her career she began pet sitting and had her focus on a career as an animal caretaker. Her long-term goal was to work in a veterinary office and soon applied her office administration skills as a veterinary receptionist.

After fifteen years of working her way up from the entry level position and after several promotions including kennel, reception and office management she developed a strong desire to work in rehabilitation therapy for animals.  This would eventually become her new passion.

Kristen was thankful for the opportunity to create special bonds with patients and their owners. She appreciated the ability to help animals maintain and improve their quality of life.  After working in rehabilitation she left the veterinary field after 24 years to help her husband in his moving business.  During that time she went back to school for human medicine and received various licenses including Phlebotomy and Nurse Assistant.   She feels fortunate that she can use these skills in animal medicine too!

In her spare time, Kristen is involved in her church with a special interest in international missions that have sent her around the world for many beautiful experiences. Kristen has a passion to help less fortunate children, both local and international. Kristen and her husband Frank share time getting outdoors, camping and hiking.

She shares her home with her beloved dogs: Gidget, a Yorkshire Terrier, Twiggy, a Chihuahua mix, Kimber a Black Labrador Retrevier, and Elwood a Standard Poodle.
